Given that there about 4 billion males on the planet, it seems reasonable to assume that they don't all have the same motives.
Some will compliment girls with an ulterior motive, and some will compliment girls without an ulterior motive. There will also be some who won't compliment girls for fear of an ulterior motive being assumed.
