Not sure what to do next

Hello! I'm in my first year of A-levels (History, English Language, Sociology) at BCC (hoping!!) and I have zero clue what to do for a university degree.

I know its kind of early imo but I have really bad anxiety and I'm really stressed about degrees and unis etc etc adult stuff. My parents both dropped out of University (money reasons) so I am firmly working class and my brother has always known what to do but I have always had ZERO clue except for the fact that I have always wanted to do university (maybe not as much recently though)
NGL I have considered apprenticeships too because being poor (full honesty here) is very tiring.

I just want a job that pays a slightly about liveable wage without destroying the (granted little) social life I have and one I enjoy, but I don't think its possible - at least looking to how everyone around me is w/ that kind of thing.
So honestly, I am just looking for any kind of advice for degrees and what they would lead to considering my options? I've looked at Urban planning specifically. That'd be nice, thanks!
Hi,

I don't think it's too early to look at potential university courses, it's always good to be prepared!
Have you looked into apprenticeship degrees? A lot of universities offer them, and it can be a good way of studying while also working and earning money. I think a lot of them tend to let you stay on as an employee after your degree as well.
I used UCAS course search when I was deciding on my degree. You can search for key words and refine it to the area, or the qualification you want.

I hope this helps,

Look at some of the career/job profiles here - https://www.prospects.ac.uk/job-profiles
Look at apprenticeships available in your area - https://www.gov.uk/apply-apprenticeship

No-where dois it say that you have to go to Uni just to get a job - and having a degree doesnt guarantee that you will earn more, or be any happier.

BCC gives you lots of options - Sociology, law, journalism etc. Granted these will not be in a top university like Bristol but you could still go somewhere decent with BCC. Take a career personality test to help you decide what kind of career suits you then pick an appropriate degree.
Hi,

It's always good to look and see if there are any courses that fit what you are looking for. Open days are probably the best way to speak to students and staff and look at different courses you may be interested in.

I would definitely recommend looking into Open days this summer to see if they can help with your decision!

We have a thread here discussing open days if you're interested.

I hope you find this helpful.
