The Student Room Group

One of my parents is not a UK citizen and doesn't have a National Insurance Number

Basically, I am stuck on the process where my parents need to fill in the online form(the government website where parents are meant to provide detail to support my student finance application), as one of my parents is not a UK citizen and has never worked in the UK before, one of them don't have a National Insurance Number, so what should I do?

Hi there, If 1 of your sponsors doesn't live in the UK they would need to complete the PFF2 form and upload this with evidence of their income for the team to review. They can find the form here: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/1137607/sfe_pff2_form_2324_o.pdf

They can find out how to upload this online here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Teb-DaFfDRc

If they don't have an online account the form and the evidence can be uploaded onto your account.

Thanks, Karen

Thank you for replying, and I'm sorry but I still have one more question. As my mother (the one who doesn't have a National Insurance number) is a housewife, she doesn't really have any kind of income. What kind of evidence should I provide? or is simply filling in the form will be fine?

She just needs to complete the form. If the team require anything additional they will be in contact. Thanks, Karen

Sorry for bothering you again. Yesterday, I received a letter telling me that the student finance needs my mother to provide Financial Evidence to support my application. As I mentioned before, my mother is not UK Citizen (she never worked in Britain), plus she is a housewife (not in work for more than 10 years), which means she doesn't have any documents that Student Finance needs. So, what should she do? would it be fine for her to simply reply to Student Finance with a letter stating the reasons why she doesn't have the documents, or are there any other things she should do?

Hi there,

If she doesn't have evidence, it will need to be a cover letter explaining the reason for no evidence so that the assessors can update this.
