In medieval england many people believed that disease was a punishment from God and for their sinful behaviour therefore during the black death people known as flagellants would whip themselves as a way of asking for forgiveness from God.Whereas in th englightenment period many people believed in Louis Pasteurs germ theory that germs cause disease
