Medicine experience dire help

Hi,
I'm a year 12 aspiring medical student but I haven't undergone any work experience/volunteering/shadowing and since ucas application will be due in a few months I'm really stressing. I cant find any places for placements etc. since the nearby hospital/clinics in Berkshire have given placements already. I'm scared I'm applying too late and have emailed but didnt get responses. What should I do? I want to get into a Russel group uni for medicine. Does anyone know anyone I could email or clinic/hospitalsthat could be willing to take me?I live in Berkshire.
Also, is volunterring as important as shadoing/ work experience on uni applications or not? What should I do to make my personal statement and application stand out as an aspiring medic? What's the difference between work experience and the rest?
Thank you

hey! current medicine offer holder here with 4 offers from 3 russell group unis! not only me but so many people in my sixth form received offers with no in person work experience. trust me, ik it maybe doesn't seem true but med school looks at in-person and virtual work experience the exact same! you will later realise this for yourself when you (hopefully) get your interview invites and offers at the end! your probably now thinking, virtual work experience but which one, there is so many! the one that got me and other friends offers to oxford/russell groups was the medology virtual work experience. it's completely free and has over 20 hours of real work experience exposures. after each session, there's a med student who then goes through what reflections they'd talk about and you can easily magpie and craft better reflections! here's the link if your interested: https://app.medology.co.uk/courses/themedologyworkexperiencemedicine/

Hi
Have you thought about contacting GP surgeries or nursing homes?

It doesn’t matter where you attend university for medicine and getting into medical school isn’t going to be any easier if you target non-RG universities.

You want volunteering experience? Approach your old primary school, they’ll be able to sort you something, in all likelihood. Most care homes would probably accept you as well. Volunteering is more important than shadowing because it will give you something to talk about at interview.
