Living in your back garden

Basically are there any restrictions on building a structure that has a small brick wall and then a wooden structure. The structure will be taller than the fence and the house is council owned. Can I live in my back garden?

Yes you can build it (assuming it is done within permits limits) but no you can’t live in it as that is change of use.
Depends on local laws and the type of structure.
Most people will usually be allowed to install a small shed or garage extension with the consent of the property owner.
Unless the property is a listed building or located within a highly protected conservation zone.

Would not the fact that it is a council house effect things?

You can’t build a habitable building.
