The Student Room Group

Childcare

I'm going to be studying a second undergraduate degree in occupational therapy as a mature student, hopefully in 2024. I have two children, childcare is roughly around £54 a day per child. Our household income is 30k, it says online that we are not eligible for the childcare funded grants. Has anyone been in a similar position? Were there other childcare support funds you could access? I'm concerned that I am doing an access course for nothing as I won't be able to attend university without any childcare funding, it's just too expensive. Tia.
Hey Tia,

I do not have a straight answer to your question, as I do not much about it (btw I am 21 years old). However, at my university, for example, they offer 1000 GBP tuition discount per academic year for mature students, meaning those aged over 26ish. It may not help you the way you want, but even these sort of changes may be able to financially help you .

Hope it helped you a tiny bit,
Max
