How is life like in University of Manchester?

I got a conditional offer so hopefully I will be able to get in after my final exams.
I have high hopes on student dorms in Year 1. I am thinking of a self-catered dorm for hopes on being able to bake there.
Do students have the time to cook or bake there? Do they even cook in the first place?
I am clueless about how student life in UK would be like.

Plenty of people cook, yes. Not sure about baking bu'd hazard a few do that, too.

It's pretty normal for people to cook in first year halls at any university, and invariably some will bake as well (I certainly did!).

Please try and remember to turn the oven off when you do (your flatmates will thank you).
