History coursework ideas

I am a Year 12 doing AQA History A level.
I am starting my coursework and can't think of a topic that relates to my subject of interest. I want to do something focused on Politics/ Law. I don’t want some really typical topics as I want to stand out in university applications and prefer something more modern like after the 1700s.
The topics my school teaches us are the Tudors and The American Dream 1945-80 so I couldn’t do anything that overlap the period. Thank you.

Maybe the development of the USSR? World wars? Vietnam war? Remember, you need to find sources for your coursework so maybe picking a popular era will help you long term as it would be really easy for you to find sources. Good luck tho!
