Learning case studies

How do people learn case studies? I have a lot of them written down or on a google docs, but I dont really see how i transfer that information to my head, i can remember the general gist of what happened (psychology or geography case studies) but any specific information - numbers etc - i just dont remember and i dont get how my written resources are supposed to help me with that
