I'm not Holamigo but I'll answer anyway :P
I finished camp in August and got back from America 2 days ago - best experience of my life!
I went with CCUSA to a Jewish Private camp. Had 5 days off throughout the whole 2 months, and a couple of evenings off a week when we weren't on duty in the bunks.
Best things:
Getting to know the kids and other councelors
For specialists, getting to teach your subject to the kids and making it fun for them.
Having fun - camp never stops but there's always so much to do. The atmosphere most of the time is just so electric and excitable.
Having better weather than the UK (hopefully)
Having the chance to travel afterwards with the new friends you've made
Worst things:
Bug bites
I was in Maine and the whole 1st month it poured it with rain. But the 2nd month was glorious.
Not much privacy.
Can be stressful, but when you're confined with strangers for 2 months it can be. But afterwards you'll realise just how much fun it was.
The main thing I would stress is do not let the term 'religious camp' scare you off of putting it down on your form: mine wasmore of a 'camp for jewish kids' rather than a 'jewish camp.' The only way it was different was we sang a song before and after each meal, we couldnt eat dairy and meat together, and there were services friday nigths and saturday mornings, but the non religious staff mostly had their days off over that period so we missed it. But the services were mostly singing anyway so it was fun. I loved it!
Go to camp, you won't regret it
