It's their choice, doesn't make them a bad person/any less attractive than any other girl.

what??? why??? i can see it being a turn on if she DOES drink ie more likly to do nasty stuff with random dudes, be undressed and dance nastily in public etc.

but why the other way?

I'm not even going to answer...
It would depend on the reasoning to be fair. I can't stand it when people get on a high horse about drinking alcohol, especially when the vast majority of those that do so have had little to no experience of it.

I personally love a drink. I love the taste, I love that relaxed feeling after a pint or two and I love getting off my face from time to time.

Drink, don't drink, who cares. Just don't be a dick about it.

why not? i can see why not drinking and beign a straight edge could indicate she is mroe trustworthy (less likley to shag dudes while drunk), more responsible and probably has better priorities. but that is wife and mother material, nothing to get turned on over.

its like saying, wow brillo pads are soooo fantastic, they clean my oven real good wow im getting sooo hard.

Why do you assume every guy is out for a quick shag with a slut? Why do you assume all guys only care about sex? Why don't you quite generalising and think maybe guys are looking for a commitment - guys who are in relationships are a testament to that.

yeah but there is a difference between finding a trait attractive in terms of relationship material, and directly getting turned on by it. usually getting turned on refers to something sexual, right? and non drinking is nothing to do with sex so why should it be a turn on? preferred relatinship maerial - maybe. but hard-on turn on material - no

im referring to your post where you said a girl not drinking is a turn on

Oh I see what you mean. When It's not a purely sexual phrase in my mind, even though "motherly qualities" if you will are VERY endearing and make you want to cherish the person - therefore make love, so possibly it's an indirect turn on.

i'd prefer if they drunk moderately, or not at all out of preference.

Frankly, I just find it disheartening- seeing randy, loutish females stumble about in whorish clothes- waiting to be taken advantage of. Call me old fashioned, but I don't think this is particularly ladylike.

Its saddening that the majority feel the need to get completely wasted in order to have a fun time. I'm all in favour of social drinking, but when its taken to excess it soon becomes antisocial drinking. :P

harder to pull and thus tend to avoid on a night out. Never met an attractive one who didn't though so it's fine.

wish my gf would come out with me more, but don't care if she doesn't drink

If you have a reason that you don't want to drink then that's fine, if you don't there must be a reason anyway. If people can't accept that, they are not worth even being friends with.

What if the girl has tried it before but just doesnt like the taste of alcohol?

I don't drink alcohol- don't like the taste of it, that is the only reason.
Fair enough if you don't like beer and cider, but any soft drink + a single measure of spirit tastes like the soft drink and alcopops are just soft drinks really. Koppaberg mixed fruit cider is basically fizzy vimto. A lot of alcoholic drinks aren't very strong and there's a huge variety. If a girl told me she didn't like the taste I'd think she hasn't tried many or is using it as an excuse that's she's afraid of letting her inhibitions go.

Same here. I had one boyfriend who tried to get me to drink a bit but only socially... I had friends too that tried to make me. Sometimes they thought as me as a party pooper. But at least I remembered what happened that night!
I had to spend a long time living with a group of people with a single sober person, I know its much harder to make connections with them even if they do socialise.

After thinking about the reasons and observing how myself and others behave I reckon its because when everyone is drunk you all do silly things, and can mutually laugh at each other afterwards. However, the sober one tends to not do things as outrageous so if they laugh at someone else, the person who was drunk doesn't have any decent come backs, this creates a one sided and more threatening conversation. Calling you a party pooper is a way to balance it out. I don't mean this as an insult to you, its just advice to let you know what it feels like to be on the 'drunk side'.

As a very quiet sober to someone who loves knocking back the shots in clubs, I've spent a long time thinking about all this!

Many of the girls I know get drunk instantly, pretty funny but not great company ha
As long as they're able to relax and are interesting then don't really care if they drink or not

Although it's a big no if someone requires stimulation like alcohol etc to even have fun, not the type of people I like to be around

in theory, yes.
but in practice, it depends on how strict the individual person is.

some straight edgers also abstain from 'promiscuous sex'

Actually it's the other way around. Abstinence from promiscuous sex is part of the core philosophy of Straight Edge, while abstaining from other drug-like substances such as caffeine or pain killers is a choice a lot of straight edgers make (including myself), but it is not one of the postulations of the original Straight Edge lifestyle.

Personally, I accept music as the only acceptable drug and therefore stay away from any external substances with mind-altering effects. When I am tired, I want to feel that, and not push my body up with caffeine or taurin. When I am in pain, I want to experience that as well.

That's quite a poor excuse. I think many people who drink don't like the taste, but they either deal with it then and there or eventually become desensitized to tastes.

My excuse? I have no need for the depressant effects and though I may have gotten more talkative, 'happy' and inhibited, I wouldn't go as far as label it as 'fun'. 'Drinking' is more of a negligible activity for me; I subconsciously avoid it to the extent that friends know that to even attempt peer pressure is an inherently failed cause.
I don't like getting drunk at all.. I like having one or two pints but that's it. I rather do drugs, they make me feel better than alcohol and I have more control over myself.

Edit: I drink now (not a lot but if I go out with friends I will drink). It didn't help that I lived in Saudi Arabia where alcohol is illegal and therefore everything is homemade. That's probably why I didn't the taste very much.
