Disabled students allowance bipolar
Hi I'm bipolar and applying for DSA, it affect concentration and motivation, as well as time it takes to get things done. What sort of things should I expect to receive.

It's likely DSA will offer you things such as a dictaphone to record lectures with and a mentor, who can help you come up with study plans and give you someone to talk your work through with and so on.
You will be assessed and given help to get you to the level of an able bodied student. You will not get any money per se but may be awarded a lap top, printer, peripherals and be given an allowance of around £100 for materials that you claim back by submitting receipts.

Ooh, I'd forgotten about that. I get a £300 allowance for non-core books and printer cartridges (so pleased SFE pay for them for me... They cost a fortune), plus SFE gives me an internet allowance, meaning they'll reimburse me for the cost of my internet.

Bipolar Disorder is classed as a Disabilty under the Equality Act 2010

Meaning of disability: something that puts you at a did advantage to others more capable. Result I can't study as well as I have issues with concentration and motivation.

It is called Disabled Students Allowance, but this includes people with a chronic illness (physical and mental).
Although bipolar(and other chronic medical conditions) can be considered a disability depending on the person. A disability is something which has substantial and long-term effect on a person's ability to carry out day to day activities (e.g .self-care, having a conversation, socialising, shopping). Bipolar can certainly have a substantial affect on the ability to carry out such activities.

Desktops are usually provided, I think, unless portability is an issue.
And you will receive the computer (whether laptop or desktop) that is recommended for you by your assessor.
If you receive a laptop or a desktop, it will be chosen for you, unless you are prepared to pay for a upgrade.

My friend's son creceived DSA for his "disability" which is depression !! Therefore I wouldn't be surprised people with bipolar disorder receive DSA as well
Since it’s chronic and has an effect on day-to-day activity from an able bodied perspective.
