Why does porn have awards?

It is arguable that the film awards, sporting trophies (barring those for actually winning competitions) and music awards are pretty pointless.

So why on earth does the porn industry have an awards ceremony?

Takes skill to produce or act in a film that sexually stimulates people a lot more than other porn films. I know I couldn't "perform" to such an extent! So I suppose there is a skill there that is recognised.

Yes but civilised society tends to take interest in who wins an Academy Award. I cant even name what the porn awards are called. Woodies? Or is that just a Family Guy joke.
