That's not particularly helpful...
are we talking natural sciences? and even within NatSci which science in particular? It depends on the specific course. http://www.thecompleteuniversityguide.co.uk/league-tables/rankings might be what you're looking for?

I can view a league table, I'm just asking people's personal opinion.

My personal opinion, you haven't specified a science so I'm going with overall rep.

Yeah, I was talking general sciences before someone had to come and be all pedantic. Thanks.

The thing is most people would rank them differently for each of those subjects, as they will be run by different departments, do different research and have different staff. I would rank Newcastle relatively highly for biological sciences, for example, because I like the research they do, but I've always thought of Bath as being good for maths, but I don't think they have much of a biology research presence.

Also, the student experience you'd have in Durham would be totally different to the one you would have in Leeds. Southampton can also be quite hard to get to on public transport, which could be a consideration for some people.

If you want to get an idea about the departments, I would look at the lecturers and their research interests. Do their interests match yours, or do you think their interests sound boring/not what you'd like to specialise in?

It's also worth thinking about other aspects of the student experience and what appeals to you- other people might dislike something you'd love. Some people hate living in large cities, for example, whereas a lot of people want to go to uni in a city.
