Hello,

I'm a student from Germany and would like to study entirely in the UK. The university of my choice, the University of Hertfordshire, requires a £5,000 deposit to be paid in advance. Unfortunately I cannot afford to pay this from my own budget and German loans only pay up to 4,600€. Is there a chance that this deposit could be financed through a Student Loan as well?

Hello, I would like to know if as an EU student, can I get a maintenance loan as well as a tuition loan? I've been in London since October 2014 as an au pair and I started to work as a nanny in January 2016, my contract will finished in August 2016 but my current employer offered me a part-time job from September 2017 (25hours/week). Am I considered like a emigrant worker? What I need to do to prove my statut ? Thank you :-)

Hi, I am 25 years old, come from EU, work full time and will have lived here for 5 years in April. My first ever course starts in September. By this time I will be in UK for 5 years. It will be really hard to manage both full time uni and full time work, so I will probably reduce working hours. As I have no support from anyone will I be able to get a Maintenance Loan? Regards. Hi, I have chronics disease, which is an inflammatory bowel disease that has and still creates difficulties for me, such as having severe stomach aches, and other symptoms. I am an EU student. Will I be able for any disabled funding, even though I am applying for a tuition fee loan?

Hello,
Once a student is approved for a loan with student finance either an EU or home student, the payments are made in three installments during the academic year. The payments cannot be paid in advance of the course starting. I would advise to discuss this with your University. Thank you

Hi my name is Gradi Dodo I've been unable to pay my Accomodation fees due to the lack of maintenance loans available to me. I've tried many different options which have not worked and have even gone to my university advice centre and they have even been unable to help me. I'm from Ireland and have been living in the U.K. for 3 years and my mother does not make a large enough income to support me. I am currently running out of time and options is there anything that you can suggest I do I have literally tried everything. Thank you.

Hi Jacob,

EU nationals applying for funding as a UK student will require 5 years residency in the UK and will be asked to provide evidence of this.

Based on the information you have provided, as you are starting a new course in year one from Academic year 17/18 and have lived in the UK for 5 years you will be able to apply for home funding with Student Finance England and therefore may be eligible for the maintenance loan.

Hi, I´m a EU migrant worker, I came to UK for the first time in 2014, before summer will be 3 years. My question is related with the Maintenance Loan, I support myself so I should be eligible but I went back to my country for a few months before coming back to UK. Will it affect my chances to get a maintenance loan?

Hello,

Based on the information provided, as an EU student who is working you are eligible to apply for home funding (this includes the maintenance loan) as an EU Migrant Worker.

In order for your application to be assessed you would need to apply on a PN1 form ( when released for 17/18 academic year) and provide the following evidence:

Original ID Passport or National ID Card

•

A copy of your contract of employment and a letter from your current employer, confirming that the contract accurately represents the hours and terms on which you work. This letter needs to be signed by a member of the Human Resources Department or your Manager.

Copies of your Last 3 months payslips

A copy of your P60 (when available if prior to end of the tax year)

Hi ,
As an EU student I can confirm you are not eligible to apply for disabled student Allowance support from Student Finance. However I would advise you to discuss with your University as they may be able to offer some support.

Hi Gradi,

As an EU student the funding available is tuition fees only.

However there are options available to apply for home funding if the criteria is met as follows:

As an Irish national if you have been living in the UK for 3 years prior to the start of the first year of your course you may be eligible for home funding

If you are employed and will be working continuously throughout your studies you can apply as an EU Migrant Worker.

Hi,

EU nationals and their family members have the right to reside in EU member states. Therefore if you have been living in any EU country for the three years prior to your course start date then there is no impact. Please note in addition to be eligible you need to be living in the United Kingdom on the first day of your course.
