Help Required for University Transfers!

Hello.
I am a current student studying in Newcastle University year one and wanting a transfer to another university since it does not offer AI related courses here. It is bad for my future prospects, therefore, I decided to retake A-levels since I got a pretty bad grade in my first try

(AS/A2 in one year, A*, C , D in Maths Chemistry Physics).
What should I do? I am quite certain I can achieve a double A* in Maths so I am most certainly going for it this year, but can I retake only parts of the IAL exam in the UK? (e.g. only Unit2,4)

or is it better for me to retake the whole non-international A-Level in the UK?

also, how can I talk to my teachers here that I want to transfer? So arkward...

Is the degree you are currently doing relevant at all to the 1st year of an AI course somewhere? passing the year could be much easier than attempting to resit a levels.

Are you doing CompSci at Newcastle - or something else?

It is mostly Java, C++, computer hardware and stuff like that, nothing related.

Java and C++ are used by AI developers! And you need an understanding of computing hardware too.

Also the specific language at this stage of your career is not so important - it's the concepts that matter.

speak to the universities you are interested in to be sure your modules are compatible

Thanks for clarifying it. But the modules aren't really that compatible in year 3, closest I could get is Bioinformatics which features algorithms, but I am nowhere near interested in that. Also, I applied for the course with Industrial Placement via UCAs, the worst case for me would be 2 more years behind on that field of knowledge. :/

The MSc is after you finish your BSc, not year 3. Have you talked to the department about your interest in AI?

Which specific course interests you more at other universities?

By the way, it's often a good idea to do a broad BSc and then a specialized MSc.

I mean year 3 I would have to choose some of the following subjects(attachments)
But none seem related. I have spoken to my tutor before and what I just told you is what he told me, bioinformatics.

For other universities like Nottingham G4G7, a lot more about AI are taught from the first few years. Which is why that's one of the universities that I am aiming for.

How many of Nottingham's modules are AI? In Y1, 1 of 8. Y2, 1 of 8. It's really not that different.

Much of which - e.g. neural networks - is covered by Newcastle in modules like http://www.ncl.ac.uk/undergraduate/modules/csc3423/

I think you are expecting a fundamentally different course at Nottingham, which it isn't. Look beyond catchy headlines at the actual content...

You need to look at the details.

Anyway if you want to transfer that's always an option. But check with Edinburgh, or Nottingham or whoever, first as per the FAQ thread.

It will almost certainly be more important to have a good Y1 result than resit your A-levels (which will be a distraction anyway).

For example, to join Edinburgh in Y2 (NB. this is equivalent to Y1 in England) they say: "A Levels: A*AA in one sitting, to include Mathematics and Further Mathematics.". You actually want to transfer to Y3 at Edinburgh, your A-levels will be less important than your Y1 at Newcastle, assuming they consider your current course to be suitable.

So I guess the best for me is to focus on university and hope for a transfer in year 3by using my university marks? That seems like a more feasible idea. But it is stated on their website that
You may apply to restart Year 1 on a different degree, or to transfer to the same degree in Year 1 or Year 2. It is not normally possible to transfer beyond Year 2.
I guess I will have to beat the impossible XD
