is it okay to not a have a big social life at this age?

I'm 16 (make) and I don't think I have much of a big social life. I have some fronds who I regularly speak to in instagram and snapchat but it's limited. I don't go to parties or go out with friends much and I was wondering if I should worry about not having much of a social life. I work at a pharmacy and wanna do medicine in a good university. I go to a grammar school.

is it OK to not have a big social life? I see all my friends out everyday and it just makes me feel bad.

thanks for reading 😁

Hey man,

Each individual person has a social life that suits them. Some have extremely busy social lives, others not so much. Personally, I found that having a busy social life was a bit overwhelming whilst studying so I chose to reduce it.

You're aiming to go into a demanding field and the hard work required starts now, perhaps having a less intense social life will give you the time you need to get this work done without constant temptations to go out.

I've worked in a pharmacy as a dispenser for 6 years now, I have a degree in biomedicine and I'm doing my MSc in Cancer Biology, feel free to drop me a private message if you need any guidance or help with anything!

I am the same age as you I don’t have as social life either in my entire life I have never been invited to any birthdays or parties or sleepovers. I never really had friends there are people I speak to but no one to express your deepest sorrows to. It gets lonely from time to time but if you occupy yourself with books or studying it is not too bad. Other people have a social life but I am not other people I am myself and I am different and I have learnt to accept that.
You're completely fine. I wasn't very social at 16 and I'm still not. The most my friends ever did as socialising was going out for a meal at Christmas / birthdays / end of exam season. That was plenty enough for me.
I'm in the same position as u.I'm hoping to do medicine and I think not having much of a social life is helping me tbh since it will distract me but it does make feel bad when I see my friends having fun and i'm just home.
