Need more info about Masters courses + Should I do an MBA/MSc?

I'm studying Business and Management (Marketing) at Bath Spa University and I'm on track to get a first. I'm currently doing a professional placement year at a student union and, after finishing the placement and completing my course in June 2021, I was planning to get 1/2 more years experience in the same student union/similar 'professional' job.

Recently, I became interested in doing a Business-related Masters (MBA or MSc) but I still don't know exactly what course I'd do or which universities would be worth the cost. My dream job would be something in the e-sports or video gaming industry, although I am enjoying my current job which is based around gathering/investigating/presenting research and working on several operational projects.

I would love to do a taught MBA/MSc course at Bath University as it's a brilliant campus, fits my entry requirements, is financially manageable, and is one of the top universities in the UK. However, I've read posts on here that say "don't do a Masters before getting at least 3 years work experience", "Masters should be used to specialise", and "Masters courses are useless if not done at a top 30 world university (Oxbridge, top international business schools, LSB, etc.)

I'm also worried that the lower level of teaching at Bath Spa University will leave me totally unprepared for the much harder Masters Business course at a higher-ranked university like Bath University.

Your profile doesn't fit Bath's target. In the slightest, they take the standing of where yiu studied very seriously and are extremely oversubscribed. But you can definitely apply, just make sure you also apply to some mid tier universities for safety, and make sure you apply early!!! Like October of 2020 for the 2021 cycle. So that you may be awarded places you wouldn't if you waited. I'm also applying this strategy despite my university have a decent reputation.

You don't need 3 years experience for an Master's. You would need 3 years experience for an MBA.

Master's being useless unless they are top 30 is rubbish, because even though Bath is very reputable in the UK... It's not anywhere near the top 30 globally.

Your also not on track for a first yet, as that can't really be said until after second year.

You would need to make sure your aware of what you want to specialise in, Master's are specialisations in specific fields. You need to do some research into what you would like to do after. What i can point you in the direction of maybe something entrepreneurial, as alot of creativity goes into the industry you plan to work in possible courses in the vein of entrepreneurship, innovation, and management. As offered from my university, the University of Nottingham.

Should have mentioned I've just finished 2nd year and got a 1st overall for that year, and I'm now doing a professional placement year in between 2nd and final year. I read on other posts that it's not that uncommon to go from an average uni to a top uni if you meet the entry requirements. One of Bath's MSc courses requires a 2:1 and no GMAT, but I'm planning to get a strong First + practising for a good GMAT score over the next year (670+ would be ideal and doable, I think).

I still don't know what MSc I'd do but I'm interested in the International Management and the Entrepreneurship courses, and they just require a 2:1. Ideally, I'd graduate from Bath Spa with a strong 1st in a relevant degree, a GMAT of 670+, some academic references from my dissertation, and 1 year of relevant professional business/project management/analytics experience. Definitely planning to apply in September/October 2020
