my doctor is lying to me
a couple days ago, when i asked him to put me back on fluoxetine/prozac, he refused. i couldn't take the side effects from sertraline anymore even at a low dose so i went back to him, and openly told him that i stopped taking sertraline a couple days ago anyway. so basically he charged me twice which was probably on purpose
he agreed to put me back on fluoxetine/prozac, but only if i also take something called olanzapine. he said it was a mood stabilising drug. it's not. i looked it up, it's an antipsychotic. wtf. i have no intention of taking it, obviously. why would he lie to me? is he just experimenting on me? according to google those two drugs shouldn't even be combined. should i report him? he talks behind my back with my boyfriend sometimes, is he even allowed to do that?

Olanzapine is routinely used as a mood stabiliser and I would infer that’s why he wants to prescribe it to you.
For what you’ve said, it doesn’t sound like he was lying to you.

Think of ‘antipsychotic’ as being a arbitrary classification. Those type of drugs where first marketed as an antipsychotic, but that doesn’t mean that they are only useful in psychosis.
As well I’ve taken both olanz and fluoxetine in combination and it wasn’t very good for me but, it’s not an unusual combo.

It rebalances dopamine levels, which is the thing that makes ur mood better.. So he isnt doing anything wrong

I am no pharmacologist but I am fairly sure that they call all newer antipsychotic drugs atypical.

Maybe go to a different doctor, a fresh perspective and a chance to speak openly about your issues with your current doctor could help, maybe chat with your boyfriend about how you feel about them talking? There is patient privacy, so maybe check how that works with regards to your care

i'm scared that they'll just misdiagnose me with random stuff tbh (happened before). the psychiatrist i'm seeing know doesn't really care much about labels which is what i like about him. he also prescribes me sleep meds/sedatives and i know not all doctors like to do that long term. but yeah he's been acting sketchy lately so idk if i can trust him. might consider seeing someone else tbh

..Doctors know whats best so I would say just try both, if something doesnt feel right then book another appointment.. Bare in mind that these medicines can make you feel worse in the 1st few weeks

It knocked me the **** out when I took it and also I put on 50lbs in a few weeks. Was crazy. I wouldn't take it again for all the tea in China and I love tea.

tbh i feel like everything he prescribes me always makes me feel worse in the end

Antipsychotics are notorious for causing weight gain. I went from 140lbs to 230lbs because of antipsychotics. It was a nightmare.
It also made me sleep like 16hours a day and didn't even do its job.

Not everyone has the same / any side effects from a medication. Many medications have other uses than the primary one that you'll find googling.
IMO, you should simply report the issues that you've been having, rather than asking for a specific medication. There may be better / safer options.

yeah i know what you mean but the thing is, i'm tired of experimenting and having to deal with side effects. i mean fluoxetine/prozac makes me sleepy but i can deal with that

You been on antidepressants with fluoxetine but far some reason your GP wants you to take Olanzapine, did he explain why he wants you to take this other tablet !!!
Fluoxetine may cause side effects. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:
nervousness.
anxiety.
difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep.
nausea.
diarrhea.
dry mouth.
heartburn.
yawning.
