Well most GPs are self-employed so there is no starting wage.

Some info here:

Yes I will be doing C1 answers.
I know a girl whose mother is a GP, I'm pretty sure shes on over £100,000 pa.

Medicine is Medicine, you learn the exact same things and have the exact same qualification no matter where you go be it Oxbridge or Manchester, Newcastle, Liverpool etc.

You are simply known as Dr. and your wage is reflected by that, a doctor from oxbridge will earn the exact same as a doctor from anywhere else

Oh! ok thanks, that's interesting because I always believed that Oxbridge puts you a steap ahead of everyone else in terms of your degree. So what is the great thing about going to Oxbridge? Is it just the reputation?

This ^. My aunt is a gp and she's working part-time and hitting 20k. people honest to god just see their big houses and think they are on 100k.

a junior doctor is NOT on 20k at all, they are much lower. in fact a junior doctor earns ******* compared to other professions, and youre a consultant's bitch for how long?

GPs pay is RELATIVE to the community they are in, and the base pay they receive. if youre on the nhs youll recieve a base pay + additional pay worked out on how many in-house tests youve done and patients youve seen/ referrals/ hours etc. some gps get 60K some get 250k. but that 250k are the TOP gps and how many years theyve spent getting that is lightyears.

The main problem is people, like you, get hooked on the "100k". its been said the "drop-outs" from medicine become gps, because some barely diagnose correctly, and most are just referral agents. then people like you come along looking for easy cash and get it on the day (yes first time gps get WAY more than junior doctors) where juniour doctors still have to WORK upwards and study into their specialisation.

this makes gp quality care not so good. instead of thinking about pay, which you know youll get, think about the quality of service YOU can provide a human being. because its not just a cheque when your poor advice kills someone, its blood money. in medicine do NOT compare the money. unlike some jobs where money is the number 1 thing, there are a MILLION things (which the correct work experience should.. no WOULD have shown) before the paycheck.

no a LOT of people do make it, sadly. but off in the interview gloat about bs experience. i mean like theyll do 2 ******* hours a WEEK for "5 months" and sell it off as theyve done 5 months work experience (which is indirectly not a porkie) when in reality all he will have done is 30 hours. thats why people who do experience like that do not know the hardships of a doctor, you making LIFE CHANGING decisions which may end a person life, or safe them, and the guilt that comes when a decision youve made goes (god forbid) wrong.

but they realise this stress in the hospital life, thats why they **** off to being a GP. GP will be a god job for him. sitting in a comfy office referring people to the hospital when he doesnt know the condition.
