Is it 'safe' to ring up the university to check how my application is getting on?

Is it safe to ring up a university and ask how the application is going? It won't annoy them will it? It's just that its taken nearly a month to make a decision and I'm getting bored lol, its in the history dept. and lots of people who are doing history-related courses like me have had a response.

Yes it will annoy them. Don't do it. You'll find out in due course, don't waste their time just because you are bored.

A month is nothing! I really wouldnt advise it.

I would advise against it because it isnt constructive and wont achieve anything. They wont be able to tell you anything apart from 'it will be considered in due course'. Remember some universities/courses dont start making decisions until they have received all applications so could be into early next year before you hear back. Be patient!
