Not giving someone your phone number becuase of your boy/girlfriend?

I was told by someone at college that they wouldn't give me thier phone number becuase their boyfriend" wouldn't like it.

Why would it better if I had thier phone number?
If they don't like it it's their problem.

I hate people who don't give their partners a considerable amount of freedom.

If I see a potential connection between my gf and a guy then probably wouldn't allow it

There's no boyfriend or girlfriend, there's never a boyfriend or girlfriend. It's a very common excuse that people use to avoid giving their number to people they're not interested in.
