I'm 18 and I've tried using tampons quite a few times, probably first when I was 15 or so... But every time I put one in, I feel really sick and dizzy and twice I've fainted within ten minutes of putting one in. Any ideas why this happens? x

Are you sure it isn't down to period pains etc?

Anyway...You should try Lil-lets Extra Comfort Tampons (they come with a lubricating gel) they make insertion a bit easier

Just make sure you put them in the right way. This girl at my old school put it in the wrong way... twice, the house mistress had to tweezer them out... twice!

Pretty much impossible if you use an applicator one.

I started using the Tampax Compak and Regular. I can't be bothered with applicators though.

I started wearing them when I was about 15 and I wear the tampax compact. When I first started wearing them, I thought I was putting them in wrong or something because I could always feel their presence there, like I could feel the string, but that feeling has deminished, after just continuing and now I don't feel them at all. When I first tried them a couple of times, it made me feel really really sick as well, but I think that's just the, I don't want to say pressure, but I can't think of the right word, while you are putting them in and someting unfamiliar is not very nice, but that feeling stopped as I got more relaxed about putting them in.

I first tried using tampons on holiday when I was about 13. I found it too hard to insert and gave up. I guess I was just nervous or something.

I'll turn 20 in a fortnight and I've only just started using them. I don't use them all the time, just when I'm out of the house. I thought it would take me a while to get used to putting them in but I found it quite easy.

I wouldn't worry about not having used tampons yet. There's no rule saying you HAVE to use them.

Have i not taught you of the evilness?

I've never had any issues with them at all - I think it's one of those topics where if you make it into a big deal, you'll get nervous over it. Treat it as something boringly normal and you just get used to it..

I've used tampons since my first period when I'd just turned eleven... I've never experienced any problems inserting them, although the smaller ones are never sufficient. In my experience anyway...
