I fear our secret may get out

Me and a girl have been talking and getting to know each other a lot, we both like each other and are in the same friend group, the only people that know we like each other are our close friends but one of my friends told someone and now i feel like the secret will spread, some people have asked me about it and i keep saying 'we're just friends nothing more' but i fear that she may think I've been telling everyone and also I'm worried my words will be twisted, what shall i do?

Why does it matter if people know? Has she specifically asked it be kept secret?

I can only assume from this post you're still in school and you're worried people will gossip about it and spread ridiculous rumours.

Are you not suppose to be dating due to religion or something? Get out of the relationship or own it. Secrets always come out. Can't feel nice worrying all the time.
