stay at home or move to a far away uni?

I live in Reading and have applied for a pharmacy course at Cardiff, KCL, Bath, Reading and Portsmouth. Here are the offers I've received so far:

Cardiff: AAB
KCL: AAB
Reading: AAB or ABB if I choose them as my firm
Bath: interview on 8/12/2016
Portsmouth: 128 UCAS points (BBB?) (backup choice)

My question is, should I stay put in Reading and live at home or should I choose a uni that would mean I'd move away and live in dorms?

Staying in Reading would save me money and energy as I would be supported by my parents so I'd be able to focus on my studies. The uni is genuinely quite good and they're ranked 17th for pharmacy. However I'm worried that I won't get the full uni experience by staying in the same town I went to primary school, secondary school and sixth form in - I'm afraid that I'll feel trapped and regret taking the safe choice. I'm also worried that I won't be able to become an independent adult and make my own decisions as I'll have my parents watching over me. As well as this, I don't want to miss out on socialising with others - until recently I've always been a bit socially awkward and the last thing I want is to go back to that and become lonely.

I want to become less dependent on my parents and be able to handle the real world without someone holding my hand. But at the same time, uni will get hard and I'm a very family-oriented person. Will I become homesick and depressed without my family? Will I be able to handle taking care of myself?

Cardiff is one offer I've been given that I'm really drawn to. It's a russell group university that's ranked 4th in the country for pharmacy, so I was overjoyed when I got the offer. I've visited the uni and heard a lot of great things about it and about the city itself. I'm worried I'll deeply regret it if I decide to turn down this opportunity...

What are your opinions? Am I missing out if I just stay home? Or should I just stay safe and comfortable in Reading?

Thanks

If you can afford to the move out, it's good to get your independence now with others in the same position otherwise it ll be a massive shock to the system once you graduate.

It depends what you want out of university. If you want a quiet 4 years with a chance to focus on studying then living at home is best, however if you want to have the full uni experience including going out clubbing its easier to do that if you move away. You can still do well even if you live at home. And no-one can tell you if you'll get homsick, everyones different.

Can I first say that you have done amazing to get an offer from Cardiff and should seriously consider it as it will enhance your employability.

If you can afford it go to a uni away from home. It is the only way to truly get the full uni experience and independence that goes with it. If you get homesick you can always jump on a bus or train and be home in less than 2 hours for the weekend.

One other reason for going away is there could be too many distractions at home which could affect your studying.
There's nothing to stop you living at home for the first year and moving out for the second year. My sister stayed in the same city as our parents for uni; but moved out.
