I'm a girl in my 20s, and my boss must be almost 40. Not sure if he's married or not, but he's made several comments towards me, and i'm unsure if they're appropriate or not..

I dyed my hair darker the other week, and he told me that it 'looked amazing'. On 2 other occasions, he told me that I was/looked 'very pretty'.

Not sure whether the boss should be saying this or not? Just seems inappropriate to me... what do others think?

Sounds dodgy, is this like a part time job or proper one? x

This is my full-time job haha, he's not there every day, only once a week. But yeah, I don't know if he's just trying to be kind or if he fancies me... :s

At this level I'd just accept it. He's not being *too* bad. If it gets any worse/more forward then maybe do something about it

Well if that's as far as he's gone then I just think he's got a crush on you but those comments aren't a big deal surely? I mean if he starts using sexual innuendos and stuff like that then you've got reason to worry but words like "pretty" and "amazing" are totally above the belt... I mean it's stuff you hear in Disney films

    Agree 100%

Could be innocent, could be that he fancies you. Either way it's probably innocent and I'd only escalate it if it went too far.

Yeah I was gonna add that ^^

As long as you don't flirt back or even be too thankful towards his comments it should be fine. Just act awkward and weirded out a little and he'll get the hint

Your "6ft 5 bodybuilding boyfriend" and "lawyer father who specialises in sexual harassment in the workplace cases" and you're golden

meh he could just be being friendly. if a woman said those things you wouldn't think much of it so unless it gets grossly sexual I would just take it on the chin

I think it is inappropriate to come on to some one who reports to you. And made worse by the age gap which makes it less likely it is reciprocated. If you don't like it I would blank it in the hope of giving a clue. As others have said, at this level its quite difficult to deal with without over reacting
