    What is the difference between the UK and US education systems in terms of GCSEs and A-Levels and SATs and APs (I think that's what they're called),

    Have you googled? Wikipedia has some excellent explanations of the different systems.

    It's worth remembering that the UK system is NOT homogeneous. England, Wales, NI and Scotland all have different education systems - Scotland is very different to the other countries. And even within countries there are differences - England students may take IB/Pre U/A levels/BTECs or a bunch of other courses.
