Why do the french strike so much?

One of my topics for A Level French is French workers and strikes.... I need to know why the French strike so much? Thank you
I think it’s because a lot of French workers are in unions (syndicats) and they have the right to strike by law I think something like that so it’s their opportunity to get the employer to discuss with the workers what they feel is unfair because strikes get a lot of attention.
