Writing tablet for university

Hi there for university I don't want to carry physical notebooks with me everywhere I go. I am going to study medicine in 2020 and so based on people like Kharma Medic's experiences it is very useful to have a tablet.

An iPad air or iPad pro is just way too expensive so I was thinking of buying one of those "paper tablets". I really like reMarkable are there any cheaper alternatives that anyone would recommend?

You should also consider the fact that you will need to carry a bulky charger and a tablet case. You will also need to remember to charge the tablet every day - it may seem simple enough now, but during stressful periods, it becomes difficult. Not sure what tablet is suitable, but just wanted to point those things out to help you make your decision.
