How to tell if a guy likes you?

Okay I really like this guy, he’s opened up to me before telling me he likes me and has done since we were in primary school (we’re 21 now and it was around feb 2020 he said this) and I declined because I got scared! (I’m awful with this kind of stuff)
But I really like him now and I have no idea what to do, what if he doesn’t like me anymore? I don’t want to make anything awkward

If he is still single i can almost guarantee he still has interest for you, but for a guy to get declined, it's not easy to ask again, he just thinks you don't want him, and he doesn't wanna be pushy.
If you still keep some sort of contact, he still likes you for sure, if he is down to meet you or something like that. Me as a guy can almost guarantee he still likes you, worst case, he doesn't. Why not find out? If i was you, just go for it, nothing to lose.
