Student finance bank accounts

When applying for student finance should you open a student bank account or like a normal account ?

You don't have to provide bank details when you apply (but if you have a normal current account you should add those details just in case you forget).

You can't open a student account until the summer - although if you know which bank you plan to have a student account with you can open a normal current account now and ask the bank to "student-ify" the account later (without changing the sort code or account number).

As long as your bank details on your SFE application are right about a week before the payment is due to be made then everything should be fine (but lots of students forget to make changes in time so it's a good idea to get it sorted ASAP)
