Just get whatever meets your personal usage needs. Any subject specific specialist software will be available on dedicated uni PC clusters and they will generally assume you will do that work on those. Also you most likely will not get a software license from your uni for those specialist softwares to use on your laptop, and an individual personal license is extremely expensive for most such things.
So really in terms of academic work your personal computer will just be for word processing and doing research on the internet for the most part. Anything beyond that will just be what you personally use it for - if you're a hardcore PC gamer you'd probably want to look at a different laptop to someone who has no interest in that, for example.
