University grade requirments

With the Government trying to reduce grade inflation by reducing the amount of students getting top grades, is it possible that universities will reduce the grades required for the courses?

No lol because the point was during covid too many people were meeting the grades and getting into unis they usually wouldn’t have got into. This is what lead to massive oversubscription.
People achieved those grades before grade inflation, it’s just unfortunately recent years have given false hope to students who would not have been classed as A students before grade inflation.
Top courses like medicine, law etc at leading unis have always been competitive and if anything unis are likely to raise grades to make them even more competitive and seek out the best of the best!

I doubt universities will drop requirements. The very top are oversubscribed and will still be with lower numbers passing. The lower ones tend to accept students with dropped grades anyway on results day. This years grades were back to pre 2019 in England anyway and most students will be English.

No. The grade 'reductions' this year were because grades were assessed by exams again and this put things back to 2019 levels ie. the way 'normal' grades were before covid and teacher assessed grades.
It would take a very significant, sustained drop in grades for unis to even think about dropping requirements. It’s rarely done.
