Swansea Uni - City life

I am considering choosing Swansea University as I saw the bay campus the other weekend, but didn't get a chance to see the city. Can any students tell me if there are many things to do and if the nightlife is good?

Have a look at the student video on the accommodation thread. Wind Street has somewhere near 20 bars and comes alive on Students nights and weekends. There are a number of cimemas, theatre, casino and a bowling alley.
Lots of shops but not the expensive ones like John Lewis. you find BHS, M&S, Miss Selfridge, Zara, Slaters Menswear, Next, Top Shop, River Island, Sports Direct,H&M, Primark, New Look, HMV, Boots, Dorothy Perkins, Debenhams, Officers Club, WHsmith, Body Shop and many more.

You will also find gyms. Leisure centres. Swansea has a lovely marina and Mumbles is really stunning. There is an indoor market voted the best in the UK. Uplands has places with live music and restaurants.

This is an ideal video to give you a taste of Swansea as a city if you come here as a student. Enjoy!

It's like any student-populated city really. It has restuarants, cinema, etc etc. It's all big enough for a student if you're used to the city life. I had a few past friends who never quite got used to it because they lived in the middle of nowhere so that can be overwhelming.

The nightlife is literally the best nightlife I've ever been in (and I'm from Birmingham!) I think Sin is grotty, but you will just have great times in there. Fiction used to be good, now it's so overpriced but Bamboo and Popworld I love and miss it dearly.
I've had some of my best memories out on Wind St and if you're a real party animal, you'll absolutely love it.

Don't be fooled by that video. Although accurate, it rains about 98% of the time in Swansea/Wales so if you don't mind rain pretty much everyday or every other day, then go for it. I now live in Oxf and every time I go back to Swansea, I just thank God I don't live there cause the rain can be very depressing, especially during the winter months!
