Raf medical capita appeal
Hi, in April I failed my RAF capita medical, I was deemed TMU and then my medical documents got examined and made medically unfit, this was due to having to wear compression hoisery, as I have very very mild lymphodema that doesn’t affect me in any way shape or form. Long story short I appealed this decision straight away knowing my specialist would back me all the way, she came up with a perfect letter backing me up and that it is completely under my control and how it shouldn’t affect me in the RAF. I’m finding it very hard waiting, I’ve waited over 5 weeks for a respond and it’s making me go insane as this is the career I’ve always wanted. Does anyone know how long before you hear anything? Sorry to break it to you, but it doesn't look good. Capita work against a very comprehensive medical policy, and checking the tri-service medical policy (the medical bible they work to), it states the following:
12. Congenital lymphoedema. All candidates with congenital lymphoedema are graded P8.
(P8 = Permanently medically unfit).
Medical evidence needs to show that either there was a mistake on your medical record, or that the issue hasn't been present for a certain number of years. This means no symptoms, or treatment.
You can check the tri-service medical policy online, just search for 'jsp 950 pdf' and click on the first link.
I always say the best you can do is appeal and hope for the best. I have been medically rejected in the past, and it can be heartbreaking - but it's not impossible.

Every appeal is case by case, so there are no set timelines.

Is there anywhere online where I can view and read Capita's medical policies. I've had impetegio in the past and am worried about my acceptance.
