If all else fails, flip a coin! They say when you do that, there's always one outcome that you realise disappoints you...
Have you tried speaking to people on the course at each uni about which you're thinking? There's probably some on here, can get an honest student view point

BCU and Sheffield hallam

Oh no way! I'm applying to BCU. I'm from Birmingham! I think maybe you should look at the cities if both unis are similar in other aspects? I know BCU is a city uni but I'm not sure about Sheffield.Also do you mind if the uni is an old or new build? Personally, I like new buildings so that's one reason I'm applying to BCU

Making a decision can be tough, so it's best not to rush and weigh up your options! We will be holding a course open day in February which would really help you in your decision. You would have the opportunity to get to know more about your chosen course, meet students who are currently studying and also get to explore Sheffield and get a feel for whether you could see yourself living here.

Our city campus is in the centre of the city with a mix of new and old buildings and facilities that we are constantly improving and investing in. There is always lots going on nearby and it's easy to find your way around! You can find more about our pros here and if you want to speak to a current student to get their opinion on the city then you can chat with them here.

What course are you planning to study at Hallam? This will determine what campus you will be studying at and I will be able to give you some more information and perhaps and quote from a student. Let me know if you have any specific questions about the course, studying at Hallam or student life in Sheffield!

Both are really good choices! A few things to consider might be:

Course
- Course content - you can check out all of our course content under the 'course in depth' tab on each of our course pages.
- Assessment methods - have a think about the assessment methods used and what aligns best with your learning style.
- Facilities - are there any specialist facilities you need for your course? How about more general ones?
- Employability and destinations - check out our student destinations on each course page to get a feel for where the degree could take you.

Student life
-Location - Where is the campus? Do you want to be close to amenities/the city?
-Accommodation - where will you be living? how far is it from where you will be studying?
-Travel - What is transport like in the area? What are the transport links like to your home town?

Does anyone know how to narrow down two choices to one. Im split between two and i cannot decide, i have been to an open for both

Hi there!

You are in a great position to be able to pick between two universities but it's really important to pick the best one for you!

Here's my top tips on how to choose the right university:

1. Course content - Think about what you are going learn and whether the courses offer the topics you want to learn. Do you get any choice with your learning? Is the course exam focused or coursework focused and what do you prefer?

2. Entry requirements - Do you fulfill the entry requirements? Consider whether the university and course want you to have more than just exam results. Ask yourself are you stretching yourself, striving for more or are you matching your ability to the requirements, there is no wrong answer to that. Its all about what is right for you.

3. How you learn - What are the class sizes? What is the learning structure? Some universities focus on different structures to others, some universities have more/less contact hours than others. It all depends on what you prioritize.

4. Prioritize - What facilities are important for you? Do you require specialist equipment for your course of choice and does that university supply the facilities? Is there accommodation available on campus or do you want to be closer to home? Is there sufficient night life and a social scene that is to your taste?

5. Looking into the future - Is there career opportunities after you graduate, does the university have a great careers support department?
