Nice!
I don't know a lot about Goodricke actually, but it's not unfamiliar territory to me as I had friends in years above me who lived there last year and they've loved it. The college nucleus houses the laundrette itself so you'll never have to walk far from your block to do the laundry. It also houses the college team, JCR, a well-being room, and the Clabour Room which is basically another room for college staff, students, etc. to hang out/chill.
As for SPS, it's a fantastic course and I'm enjoying it so far. In Year 1, you'll take 4 core modules, including Contemporary Issues in Social and Political Science which introduces you to interdisciplinary teaching in the Social Sciences and you'll be exploring contemporary issues such as Black Lives Matter, Climate Change/Emergency, etc. (the topics may vary year on year). In Years 2 and 3, you'll take one core module (Social Research Methods and Dissertation respectively) followed by option modules (3 in Year 2 and 4 in Year 3, 2 per term) and the latter will allow you to specialise in a particular field.
You may have also heard that from September, SPS will be joining Social Policy and Social Work (SPSW) and the York Management School is moving to the new Church Lane Building which is between Campus West and Campus East. I'm personally excited for the move because based on the architectural renderings of the building inside, it looks really lush and will be a massive improvement from the old building - there's a cafe, various study spaces, etc.
