    Because guys don't do this?

II'll be honest I rarely pick up Men's Health and think '****, need to up my game in the gym so I can have a personality like that guy'.
What a load of blueberry muffin!! As if girls never go to gym...

As if girls never "paint their face" with all sorts of chemicals and say '**** i need up my sexuality so I can have a much better sex appeal. **** i'm so jealous of her'.

The point was both sexes care about their appearance, not just girls.

I don't sweat my arse off working on my abs/lats/chest/arms/delete as appropriate just because it's good for me, it's also because I know it looks quite good. Ditto buying clothes, doing your hair etc.

Why do boys spend so much time idolising/fapping to "unrealistic expectations"?
Girls spend enough time idolising and fapping to unrealistic expectations. Your argument is weak.

Because a girl's social worth is determined by how good looking she is. It's not rocket science.
Then why doesn't this apply to guys?

I think most males and females care about the way they look.. Why wouldnt you want to look good?

Because society ingrains this into our minds from an early age. Barbie dolls, magazines, TV and a variety of things. We are brought up to believe and think that we should look our best and the media places a huge deal of importance on female looks (add to that the objectification of women) I would say looking good is also part of being female and ultimately I see nothing wrong with it (what's wrong with looking good?) but as you say, there can be a point where it becomes destructive and you end up neglecting yourself as a whole individual and focusing only on looking good.

Why doesn't society apply the same standards to men?

I'd say society does to some extent but in a different way. Men are expected to be "manly" with "sensitivity" frowned upon and shunned. I am of coarse making generalizations but this is my observation, A hot man is a manly and confident (and somewhat arrogant) one rather than done up and preened.

It does to an extent. Action Man's ripped up with a chiselled jaw, as are most superheroes; most Hollywood actors are very good looking, and often in unusually good shape too; in magazines etc. most guys you see are good looking.

Other factors come into play more with getting girls, but if you look like David Gandy you're still going to be getting a serious amount of interest.

Most people have never and will never hear of Gandy, the only reason I know of him is because I sometimes lurk the misc for the lolz. A man who is just looks and has nothing else to offer (status, charm, confidence, assertiveness, personality, humour, wealth etc etc etc) will never have the same ''value'' as a superhot woman. That's why anyone can recognize a huge number of female models and that's why they make 100 times more money than male ones. The question still remains : why ?

Because right now the idealised standard of beauty is female, as has been the case for a long time but not forever (Greeks and, to a lesser extent, Romans idealised the male form).

Yeah these are tough times for men who thought they could make the big bucks from escorting or cam modeling like women can. Maybe 20-30 years from now the trend will change and it will be the women who have to pay for all those things or sweet talk men into having sex.

Some men can. A guy I lived with in first year was a Dream Boy and he got paid fairly significant wedge, apparently some of them do 'extras' and get a lot for it.

I'm sure some men can, the same way a white man ran the 100 in less than 10 s.... after 500 black guys did it before him. But I dream of a world where heterosexual equality is complete, much like it is in the gay men's world where sex is always free and on tap for pretty much every participant. I could post an online ad right now and have 5-10 gay men within a 5 mile area offer to suck me off within an hour, no charge or anything in return required. I could wait for 10 years and my ad would get no customers whatsoever if I specified women only. Why do you think women are so much different when it comes to such things?

If you really were proud of your appearance, you wouldn't use "make up" and other cosmetics.

"Even if it makes Men feel uncomfortable?" I smell a stinky feminist raging her devilish opinion over here....
wearing makeup doesnt make you fake. dont embarass yourself by reverting to childish behaviour, be mature dont name call. cant you come up with something better than "stinky feminist"?

...instead on focusing on their personality, confidence, assertiveness, originality, charisma, humor and all the other similar traits women look for in men?
What makes you think you can't have both?

I'd say that most of it comes from hearing immature teenage boys talk about a girl's looks like being good looking is the most important thing in the world. To be honest though a lot of girls do this too. I've seen people assume that someone is "weird" (not the good weird) because they aren't society's idea of good looking. The word ugly is so overused these days. Just because someone isn't my idea of attractive it doesn't mean that they're ugly and it certainly doesn't mean that I shouldn't want to get to know them or be seen with them. People judge on looks so much that it's ridiculous and witnessing this or doing this just makes a lot of people do anything to avoid being seen as "ugly".

    Blame guys

The fashion world is made by women and run by women , its them who elect surreal and unusual models for girls to look up to , its them who ***** about women who have put on weight or lost it etc Girls are also very very *****y and probably more critical about each other then guys would be to girls.

You also cant really complain about objectification and the media when every girl these days puts up the absolute best picture of themselves on social media , adds about ten filters , lighting , cleavage , duckface etc In reality they look nothing like this , they objectify themselves.
