Most unis ignore AS results because private schools aren't obligated to provide them, they'll go off your target grades. As long as you're predicted AAA or above then you should be fine (I was predicted A*AA)
could AAA predictions be substituted for A*AB? or is the latter lower?

Some unis might accept A*AB but the only ones I know of are Keele and Lancaster (that was last year - you'd have to check again for this year)
