Even more irritating is a student at my college who got an E in AS Maths and managed to get the teacher to predict him an A. I got an A and was predicted an A, which I think is fair but for him to be predicted so high a grade is a joke.

I can't even get an A prediction from a high B at AS! And that's with extenuating circumstances...
But OP, those predicted grades did seem a bit high for your AS UMS, it was still unfair for them not to let you know they were different though as it might have changed where you applied to. Your still meet most of their entry requirements though, so I wouldn't worry overly much about it yet.
