Do you need to be registered to see a GP?

At my usual practice the nearest appointment I can get is in two weeks (AT 7AM), and to see my usual GP it's about a month. My friend says he goes to a different place and usually gets a much closer appointment. Can I just get an appointment somewhere else or do I need to register?
Register I'm afraid.
Unless the rules have changed you cna see a GP on a temporary basis.
You have to be registered there first
You can see another GP on a temporary basis as long as you are registered somewhere, but you have to have a reason for visiting the GP temporarily, such as being at home for the holidays from uni, and even then sometimes you may need a family member to be registered at the same GP surgery. Some GP surgeries do not do temporary appointments either, like some university GPs.
you can go to the walk in clinic if its for something minor, you might have to wait an hour or 2 though
Cities (and possibly larger towns) often have separate walk-in clinics which could be an option if you need to see someone kind of urgently. But they're not a long term solution if you need to go a lot and can't get appointments.
