To smile from the inside out. I don't know how to explain it- some people just do. It's like they shine.
Respect. otherwise there's no point
Some kind of spark there- to be able to tell they want to be with me for who I am and not fleetingly/for my body

They act themselves around you and not fake who they are, they act like a real woman and don't swear or talk bad, see if they are interested in anyone else but themselves (Meaning they don't go on about me me me and have no interest in you but themselves x

Ohhh

Are we talking actually relationships or just wee flings?

If a proper relationship I'd like to see respect for his family first and foremost, I couldn't be with a guy who wasn't positive about his family as mine are very important to me, and I like to see that reflected in the man I'm with.

I like to see some goals, no matter how big and small, as long as he is looking to progress (doesn't have to be career, can be his hobby or sport or whatever, just that he wants to move forward and not be static)

They're dog people, if you're not a dog person we can't be together cos my dogs are everything lmao.

Do they have to use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something?
Humour
Intelligence
Romantic feelings for the person
Depends on your definition of date.
Where I'm from, it doesn't mean just going on a few dates and seeing what happens.
So by my definition, yes.

I was gonna say myself, but wow how original. I suppose someone who's laid back, has a chill sense of humour, and is open-minded.
