Body potential

Anyone else know of or is in the same situation?

My father has been overweight his entire life, since he was around 22 now he's 62. In my life i've never seen him not be overweight and i've never seen a muscle on his body.

I've been working out on and off for years now, so I get why I may not have results as the longest i've been able to work out is 6 months and then not end up going for another 6 months so I lose all the little gains I had.

The problem is... he is overweight yet his arms and legs are still skinny. Like a Maurizo Sarri (google him if you need to) but basically a fat stomach with skinny limbs.

So the question is, is this something that can't be changed for myself, no matter how much I work out, will I always have skinny arms and legs. Because, when I see other fat people, their wrists, arms, legs are massive so would him still have skinny bones suggest that my body has no potential of growing too?
