Can you still get pregnant when you come off the pill?

I’ve been on the pill (not combined) since I was 14 and I want kids about 30. Will taking the pill for that long make my chances slimmer getting pregnant? Should I be changing my contraception if so?

You probably won't be able to have 30 kids.

What does the pack of pills and your doctor say?
The pill has no long lasting effects on fertility, you will be fine. Have one normal period after stopping to allow your system to 'reset' into a natural cycle.
The pill is often chosen by ladies hoping to conceive in the near future for this very reason - they can stop it whenever they like.

There's no known fertility effects on the pill so you should be be fine, it can occasionally take a while for your cycle to return to normal but that's it
Hello, i think the most important thing for you to do would be to contact a trusted practitioner. they are the ones that understand best when it comes to sexual health. from my experience working in a hospital, if you believe your normal GP cannot help, do seek advice from a gynaecologist or even fertility doctors. I don't believe the pill will prevent you having children forever but there are some effects such as lower fertility and further complications. hope this helps

🙂 I'm a "trusted practitioner"

There are no long lasting effects on fertility or side effects when you come off the pill.

Harsh as it sounds, Gynaecologists and fertility specialists dont have time to deal with queries such as this query.

I’m not sure about every gynaecologist and fertility doctor but that’s a big statement to make that they don’t have time to deal with queries like this, that’s what their whole profession is about and having been around these professions for many years, I can assure you that this is something they are more than happy to assist with.

Of course they absolutely will if investigations etc need to be carried out for trouble conceiving, that isn't really what the issue is at the minute, the OP was simply asking whether coming off the pill will cause difficulties later down the line getting pregnant. No need to jump forward in time assuming she will need to see a gynae or fertility expert 🙂

Hahah sorry if you got that impression, I simply suggested that she may do that if she would’ve liked too. Spend less time being defensive and maybe more time understanding. Replying to her message, I just recommended for her to seek medical advice and gave her options, never once saying she SHOULD do this.
