Hi, I will be started my dentistry course this october at caucasus.
I think in regards to which uni is the best its really up to you and ur personal preferences. The 2 main ones that I was looking at were new vision and caucasus and they both seemed pretty good to me but i decided to go for caucasus because the first 2 years at new vision was online and i just didnt like the idea of that.

uk students should be very wary of the difficulty involved in the ORE and the stages/costs/time

I would always suggest to steer clear of it

I am studying in slovakia, year 4, dentistry, happy to help

Surely someone applying to Bulgaria this year will still have to do the ORE though?

Not at all. I'm planning to make a video on this as it's easily misunderstood. The GDC has extended their exemption period but the five years they said they'd do it for is to buy more time to then extend it indefinitely post Brexit. I can explain all this feel free to get in touch. Do not go to Georgia please

So if someone starts Dentistry of Medicine this year or next year, they will be fine with coming back?

If they go to Georgia? Not for dentistry definitely. Risky for medicine

No sorry, I mean if somebody goes to an accredited EU University like spain, bulgaria etc

If my course starts this year, will I not have to sit the ORE when I come back - or is that only for people that were already in Dental School when the legislation changed?

The GDC have extended the validity of EU diplomas for a further 5 years (they did this in July 2023) so anyone qualifying up to that point will not have to sit the ORE. However there is no clear view, based on my reading, if that will be the case once that directive expires. They might extend it further or introduce something else, we just don’t know.

Thank you!

And I assume for Medicine, as everyone has to take the MLA now, that foreign students will have to regardless

There will always be an EU recognition due to the amount of EU registrant's with the GDC each and every year which is over a third of the workforce. For them to take this away at any point is going to destroy the already feeble NHS we have for dentistry

If you study outside the EU you'll always have to either do the ore or some form of tough assessment

As this keeps the bad dentists away from rubbish countries or with poor clinical experience

My advice... Stick to EU unis exempt from the ore ... No risk involved

Slightly higher tuition fee ofc but you get what you pay for... Learn from my mistakes

I've made a video about this very same topic covering everything in a little bit more detail due to release today or tomorrow - keep an eye over on my channel just search for the stu dent Kosice

You'll see one of my videos and you can check the latest ones from there

Hopefully latest by tomorrow the video will drop and give a better insight

Feel free to get in touch whenever

Happy to help everyone
