Is it bad that my boyfriend feels like a friend?

I had a crush and there was some chemistry so we started dating.
I like him a lot, but I feel like we are becoming good friends. We hold hands and stuff, but I don't think I'm ready for anything more. I'm 17 and he is 18 for context.
Is it normal to feel this way?

I look forward to seeing him and I think he is an amazing person. I don't know if I'm just broken or something but I struggle to open up enough to go beyond friendship
