how do i tell my manager i’ll be available on weekends once uni starts

hiya! first time posting through the app so bear with me 🥲 i recently got a part time job, it’s a 12 hour contract, started 2 weeks ago and during the interview i told my manager that i’m fully flexible and potentially taking a gap year between my studies (even though i’ll still be living at home so i don’t have to quit by the end of summer! idek if there really was a point for me to say that?!?). i thought i’d be able to work a couple of weekdays and the weekends throughout uni but i have just received my timetable and second year is a lot more packed than i expected. it seems like i’ll only be able to work weekends until after december (i have more days off of uni for second semester)

how should i approach this with him? what should i say? would i get fired? it’s a pretty small town and my family regularly shops at this store as well which will be extra awkward if i do :’)) any help would be much appreciated, thank you!
