radiography or neuroscience?

should I do radiography or neuroscience at university? I'm so fascinated by the brain which is why neuroscience caught my eye at first but the job prospects from neuroscience I'm not sure are for me since they're more lab based and I would like a job that has patient care. Radiography I was considering as I could specialise within CT and MRI scans and work with brain scans and it has patient contact. However degree would be the better option and has a higher salary with more progression within the job?

There's recently been a similar thread to this (although biomed rather than neuroscience) that is worth a read:

Also, have you considered radiotherapy and oncology (some courses are also called therapeutic radiography)? Like diag rad, it has good employment and career development opportunities.

If you are going to open days for your other options, it's worth attending the radiotherapy talks too.
okay thank you !

I decided with DR rather than therapeutic radiography cos as fulfilling therapeutic is I honestly reckon it would break my heart doing that job everyday and with DR I can specialise within CT and MRI scans or become a sonographer or even do a physician associate post grad after I want to at that point in time. Also I am going to an open day at the University of Leicester next Saturday so hopefully can attend a talk there

Therapeutic radiographer here - one of the biggest misconceptions about radiotherapy is about how its "depressing" etc. Whilst yes, we do see some very poorly patients, 90% of the people we treat, to look at them you wouldn't even know they had cancer. Even the patients themselves are surprised at what a cheery, friendly place it is. Yes, there are heart-breaking moments, but these are far outweighed by heart-warming ones, and the many laughs you share with your patients.

As a diagnostic radiographer you will see all kinds of terrible sights - children who have been sexually abused, women who are victims of domestic violence, people who've been stabbed, the homeless, drug addicts, road traffic accidents. Working in CT or MRI you will be the first person to find out that that lovely old lady has lung cancer, or that good looking young man has a brain tumour. Go into sonography and you will be the one to discover that that expectant mother has a dead baby in her womb etc etc.

I say this, not to put you off, but just so you have a realistic idea of what to expect. Both roles require emotional resilience, just maybe not in the way you expect.
