Advice Needed on Uni Choices

Hi, I need people's insights of some of my university Choices. I am applying for the LLB degree. My hard reach is Queen's Collage at Cambridge, then Queen Mary, Royal Holloway, City UofL, and Birkbeck UofL. I am predicted with A*AA in A-Levels and I did not do IGCSE but I have the overall GPA of 6.1/7.0 in MYP as secondary education. Do you think I made a good choice in securing a couple of safety nets? I wanted to do LSE or King's but they require LNAT, and I am too scared to risk it as I have no idea how much i scored in the LNAT.

You don't have to make all your choices now. You can just apply to Cambridge by 16 October and then add your other choices later (but by the 31 January).

Oh didnt know that i could do that. Would it be possible to withdraw some of the choices after all choices are made, and add some back in by the deadline? or is this not the best idea

No you cannot change your choices after 14 days, Why are you limiting your choices to London. There are very good provincial universities. As a quick suggestion Exeter is good for Law and doesnt require LNAT..

No it's not the best idea as you only have 14 days from receiving your welcome email to make changes. As I've said above, just add Cambridge for now and take your time to add your remaining choices.

I intend giving you a more detailed response. Any applicant for Cambridge should be looking at better universities than these. As an example universities like Exeter, Southampton, Cardiff, Manchester, Sheffield, Liverpool and Leeds do not require LNAT and would be good choices for you. If you require a lower choice look at places like Lancaster, East Anglia, Reading or Kent plus others.

Are you aware Royal Holloway isnt in built up London. It is on the outskirts near Windsor and is in a rural area.

Birkbeck specialises in evening courses. You would be better off elsewhere for a Law degree.

I attach the compete university guide Law table for your help.

Hello lovely,

Thank you for your insights, my teachers are rushing to submit by tonight so I will have to secure an admission to Cambridge now. I will think about the rest, yes Royal Holloway is indeed beautiful but I don't think I'd enjoy living in Egham. Birkbeck is one of my safey net because I am being super careful here.... the worst nightmare is getting rejected by all my choices. I agree Exeter would be a better option. Do you think Exeter looks at my AS levels + MYP results?

I dont really know but suspect they will. The issue is that AS is not taken in England only in Wales, Northern Ireland and internationally so it is unfair to base offers on something the vast majority of students dont take, I certainly woudnt go for Birkbeck. There are far better safety choices and most will tend to accept dropped grades. If your predictions are accurate not deliberately inflated it is unlikely you will drop more than 1 grade per subject anyway. Somewhere like Lancaster, Reading, East Anglia, Kent or Swansea would be far better insurance options than Birkbeck.

As above, submit with Cambridge (plus eg QMUL if you're sure about them) initially then add the others when you've had more time to think about it.
